180,000 SF, 6-story, state-of-the-art energy efficient research and development facility. Key energy design components for the project include daylighting controls at the perimeter to reduce lighting levels; occupancy sensors to turn off lights and VaV boxes in private offices; high performance / low flow fume hoods; radiant floor heating at the perimeter; glycol heat recovery system; and lighting levels below energy code requirements. In addition, the facility was designed to meets Labs 21 Certification requirements. The project also includes a 28,000 SF Central Utilities Building providing service to the new Science Building, as well as steam, chilled water and compressed air to a number of other Genzyme properties on New York Avenue.
