Institute for Engineering-Driven Medicine (I-DIME)

This new 60,000 GSF laboratory building will provide research space for an integrated biotechnology and engineering program including a data center and a vivarium.  The building relies on an innovative exhaust-source heat pump system with heat recovery chillers to achieve ultra-efficient 100% electric operation. Triple-glazed windows and strategically located skylights offer excellent access to daylight and views while minimizing heating load and eliminating the need for perimeter heat. Fan coil units in all zones ensure that the DOAS operates only to match ventilation needs. A campus-based solar array will be developed to offset the building energy consumption, achieving Class B NZE.
