Penn Medicine, The Roberts Proton Therapy Center

Added to the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine (PCAM) project as a phased addition, this 75,000 SF facility is the largest in the US, treating up to 200 patients a day. The proton accelerator is a 230 MeV rated fixed energy isochronous cyclotron supporting treatment equipment consisting of four rotating gantries and one fixed beam applicator. Diagnostic and treatment programs share program functions with the Penn Radiation Oncology program. Additional spaces were included for patient treatment as well as faculty/staff administration. This fast-track design and construction effort also allowed the ability to construct a research tower on top of the proton facility.
