Project Highlights

  • 200,000 GSF
  • $300,000,000

Cambridge, Massachusetts

Programming and design services for a new 200,000 GSF building with state-of-the-art class 100 and 1,000 cleanrooms, imaging, and laboratory spaces. This world-class facility will help to modernize the Institute’s nanotechnology, materials, and engineering systems research capacities for over 2,000 MIT faculty and students, combining them with advanced fabrication tools and materials processing capabilities.  Cleanroom space will consist of specialized research equipment for micro and nanofabrication. High bay, low vibration imaging space will accommodate high resolution imaging to monitor 3-D nanomanipulation processes. Laboratory space will support materials characterization, lithography, and other practices, as well as provide space for future growth.  The top floor of the building houses advanced chemistry teaching labs, some of which can be converted to clean packaging and prototyping.  Estimated construction cost: $300M.  Construction completion in 2018.
