The ability to take ownership of assignments and perform well both independently and as part of the project team is necesssary. The ideal candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of Revit, and their responsibilities will include:

  • Performing advanced heating and cooling load calculations;
  • Developing sections and elevations of complex ductwork and piping areas;
  • Developing equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases;
  • Editing specifications to reflect the project requirements;
  • Developing air and water flows;
  • Understanding fan and pump curves to properly select equipment for application;
  • Using the psychrometric chart properly for any HVAC system;

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering;

This role exercises oversight during the construction phase of building systems engineering projects and will be based in our Boston, MA office. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks, be highly organized, have excellent writing skills, proficient computer skills, and a professional and team-oriented demeanor.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing approved system concepts in the construction phase.
  • Managing the construction-related aspects of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering; developing and maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Communicating with BR+A Project Manager/Project Engineer regarding potential problems and engineering assistance from the design team that you may need.
  • Coordinating with other construction trade disciplines and the architect.

In this position you will work as part of our in-house team, championing the energy agenda and developing simulations for unique and challenging projects. The ideal candidate should be proficient in eQuest and have a strong understanding of mechanical systems. 

 

Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Mechanical/Architectural Engineering or related field;
  • Proficient with eQuest;
  • Experience with energy modeling for code-compliance, LEED and/or utility incentives;
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
